photoblog image Along the Hooghly

Along the Hooghly

Another sight from our boat ride along the Hooghly River in Kolkata. The kids playing along the water's edge really caught my eye.

NB: I should add that this was not a fort, or at least not obviously so. All along the river at different points there were walls and built up embankments of different kinds. But I do think it was quite old.

I love this vintage scene. Old fort with stronger walls which are now getting deteriorated. And a modern house within those walls. Show how the time has changed.

Doesn't seem like a very safe place for children.

Probably someone's summerhouse. Always amazing how rich some can be in a country of poor people.

I do like how you can see more of the detail of the bricks the closer to the water you get, Charles. That's where you can see the age.

With the stain on the bricks the water can get very high
India is really great, is a continuous assault on the senses.
I hope you don't mind but I have allowed myself the freedom to propose you this suggestion for the image contrast:

Charles Dastodd: Armando - thanks!!!! That is exactly what I wanted to do with the photo but I had absolutely no idea how to do it. I am a complete novice when it comes to this.

The light veil gives the feeling of a 60's shot, i like the sun felt in this image
Going by the size of the children this is quite a high wall by the look of it Charles.
A good picture Charles..it certainly looks old to me. perhaps a play with the Bright/Contrast would help here.
I cant get over the amount of bricks used in these wall and yesterdays post. The children seem to be having fun.
Such an interesting image and so nicely composed. Yes, the kids would have caught my attention also. They think nothing of playing in this spot!

I like the general scene in this river shot... rather dramatic shapes along the shore. The kids playing is the heart of the shot and they make an appealing subject. Fine shot.

I Like the light veil. Gives a special touch.
I agree about the kids Charles but I also like the repetitive shapes of the walls.
Un lugar muy bien protegido, parece que hay algo de niebla no???

Saludos!!
Thanks for your visit to my site! I just looked through some of your images and I love what your work! Interesting and colorful look into a totally different culture from mine!
It looks quite old. I wonder how clean that water is?
A picture that explains yesterday. It feels hot, although water. A greeting.
