Man-Powered

The cycle-rickshaws which I posted the last two days are very common around Kolkata, but so are the older hand-pulled variety like this one. I don't think rickshaw drivers have a very easy life.

Taken while on my trip to Kolkata, India (aka Calcutta).

I would agree, not an easy life. I like the composition of the Rickshaw, the surrounding area and people gives a sense and spirit of the place.
A classic and timeless image.Nicely done.

As much as the rickshaw in the main focus of your photo, I am so drawn to the people behind it. Fascinating photo.

I'll have to agree with Stephen phillips....

A lovely image Charles. Reminds me of Madagascar where there are only hand-pulled ones!

Nor a very long one. They wear out quickly. I like the treatment here. The 'driver' framed by the cart and the faded colours suggesting age
This one looks as though it has a few years behind it Charles.
Nice shot of life in India, I would feel awful getting in this one and being pulled everywhere, I would feel sorry for the puller/driver!
Excellent shot. The man on the railing doesn't look to thrilled about life.

I apologize for my English, I use a translator online.
Beautiful photos, appreciate the patina of antiquity that permeates it.
I love the washed out colours in this Charles.

lovely. the processing gives it a timeless feel.
Great image! Nice old time vibes!
Must be a hard life for the pullers. The plus side is they must be pretty fit. Nice capture Charles.
It's a great people watching shot.
...so many things going on here, not sure where to start. Are those pants on the tree?!?! Another excellent image.

I remember sitting on one of them for a few minutes, before I guiltily demanded to get off... I also saw one up in Toronto, Canada! Its more like a health thing there, as opposed to poverty in India.
A compelling vignette, Charles. Like the muted colors and old-time feel.
great image
This picture has an ancient atmosphere that attracts me. I love the composition!

Such an intriguing scene and so beautifully captured. The green cushion in the cart looks like I could reach out and touch it.
