photoblog image Along the Hooghly

Along the Hooghly

As it turns out I couldn't help posting one more follow-up picture in this series. Here you can see people bathing in the Hooghly River in front of some old structure. You can also see the trash and debris that litters the bank. That should give you an idea of just how dirty the river is.

Really like your treatment of the image, Charles.

Regarding the flotsam & jetsam in and beside the river...I think we need to consider the possibility that this [the western thinking] pollution might be the "enrichment" of the water that raises its holy, sacred, healing, rejuvenating co-efficient as perceived by the locals.

Must be an amazing amount of rubbish dumped as with that tidal range it must get cleaned out daily

Nice light!

Not sure if I could bath in dirty water, especially shallow waters.
I like the reddish tone on peaceful landscape and a beautiful quiet! Wonderful!

Bonne journée.
Beautiful scene and beautiful light and colors.

Beautiful light and I like the softness in this picture
That water must be abslutely foul Charles, but I guess that is about all they've got for bathing in.

I like the dreamy effect you've given here, a striking contrast to the litter all around.

What a shame that such a beautiful area is littered with trash. Yet, they don't seem to mind...
Another gorgeous shot Charles. Very painterly.
