Flower Market

14/15

I just want to share a couple more shots from the Mallick Ghat Flower Market in Kolkata under the Howrah bridge. I took this one from atop the bridge. Here you can see that they actually use a range of marigold colors, including mixed strands. And in the top right hand corner you will notice that the flower market has a few other things besides flowers like these bananas.

For more shots from the Kolkata flower market look here.

Also, my apologies for a lack of comments the last few days. I was presenting a paper this past Friday and I am now getting ready for dissertation fellowship deadlines next week.

The mixed strands really stand out and show more detail than blend into one another. It's amazing how many flowers they have at these markets.

I hope your presentation went well last Friday and good lick with the dissertation deadlines.

Another great shot from the flower market, I love the rich colours and the high elevation you took the shot from.
This could almost be a scene from a big ballet production, so vibrant and beautiful on the eyes. Very nicely captured, Charles.

I sure would love to see how they use these flowers, Charles, once they buy them. Because they don't have stems, I wonder how they are arranged. Do you know? And yes, I was very glad to see the bananas. smile
Charles Dastodd: I have some shots from the wedding I went to where there are garlands of marigolds hanging in rows of arcs. They are very lovely. Also, I recommend watching the movie Monsoon Wedding and you will get an idea why there are so many marigolds. That movie shows them decorating for a wedding with tons of these. smile

I spotted those bananas immediately.
With this photo series is clearly justified their interest in seeing the flower market. I like this view.
A wonderful interpretation of the colour and atmosphere of a very exotic market.

Hope your paper went well. How do you find time to reply to this many comments even without dissertations? And many thanks for your comments on my blog. Greatly appreciated.
Charles Dastodd: It requires being very disciplined, particularly because I am also teaching a writing workshop right now, and getting ready to present at two other conferences, and studying ancient Greek, and trying to finish by dissertation by June. So I stay rather busy wink

I love to see the few brave ones making their daring escape attempt, Charles...its futile but the courage is palpable.
Great colors! People should be dressed in Belgium more like that, or at least use such colors.
