Lift

While I was in Salt Lake City in March I rented a car and drove up to Park City for a day. This is one of the primary ski resort towns up in the Wasatch mountains, about 30 minutes north of Salt Lake City. Park city was originally founded as a mining town in the 19th Century, but is now home to three large ski resorts as well as the Sundance Film Festival.

An interesting shot of a mountainside loaded with infrastructure Charles - but with no people!
Charles Dastodd: Yeah, I had no idea where everyone was. To be honest it was a kind of a warm day and I think the sun was thinning out. I mean, this was mid-March so the crocuses were pushing up through the snow and everything felt like spring smile

Beautiful! Salt Lake! Wow! I was in Kolkata a week ago. Now I am in Sikkim, north east India. I am returning to Kolkata in 2-3 days. Will share the photos after I am done with work. Take care.
Charles Dastodd: Oh, that's exciting! looking forward to seeing the pictures! smile
And there was I thinking that Utah and Salt Lake City were constant sunshine and warmth. LOL! How little to I know. Fascinating photo, Charles.
well, I am more for spring photos at the moment...
Charles Dastodd: well, believe it or not this was a spring shot!! smile this was up in the mountains, but down in the valley in Salt Lake there was no snow and all the flowers were blooming
Seeing this shot, makes me sad that I did not hit the slopes this year.....ah well...next year!
Very interesting shot with a unique point of view. I love how the strong sun is lighting up the bush and creating those lovely blue shadows.
Where is everyone.. Good composition smile
Charles Dastodd: I think it was the end of the season! smile

Excellent repetition of pattern here. Love your point-of-view..how you framed this.
Hard to judge whether or not you were occupying one of those chairs when you shot this one, Charles.

Great perspective!
Charles Dastodd: heh, I was in fact on the ground smile
Such a striking image with lovely soft blue and the delicate silhouettes...well done Charles!

Beautiful snowy mountain. The only part of Utah I have been too is there it meets New Mexico, Arizona and Colorado.

What a cool perspective for this shot, never knew the Sundance Film Festival was held there
Great photo of the chair lift, but it's surprising there are no skiers on it. Did you go skiing while there?
Charles Dastodd: unfortunately I did no skiing. I was there for a conference and just had a short afternoon to go explore. but to be honest, I don't think the snow was that good when I was there, so I didn't miss out smile
Joli composition et super cadrage sur ces remontées mécaniques

There are still traces of the mines in the area from what I can recall, Charles. I preferred Deer Valley to Park City - no snowboards, too! Oh.. and great lunch stops!

Really good repetition and framing. And the striking point of view is awesome.
C'est étrange de ne voir personne dans ces télésièges... c'est la fin de la saison de ski...
