Costa Rican Wildlife

I ran all through the jungle chasing this dragonfly, waiting for it to land long enough for me to capture it. Taken in the Manuel Antonio National Park in Costa Rica.

For more animal shots from my trip go here.

Oh, no! Charles! Running through the jungle...you may have killed a dozen or so endangered micro-ecosystems with you battering ram size 11's!

Nice capture, though...this Dragon has characteristics in common with both Dragons and Damsels.
Great catch Charles! And nice sharp!!
Haha, yep dragonflies can be pretty elusive. Great job on catching him!

Was worth the chasing to get this cool shot, reminds me of running around a bushy part of Entebbe doing exactly the same thing to get a shot of a dragonfly
Wonderful catch! Those little bugs are so hard to get sometimes!
Splendid capture, Charles

I don't think I have ever seen one that close! Photographing insects is hard, you did a good job.
Excellent work and worth the run.

very cool capture. you really saw a lot.
You must be getting pretty fit chasing dragonfly's through the forest. But definitely worth it - technically and aesthetically a winner.
Excellent shot Charles, I have never ever taken a decent shot of one of these little critters.
Looks like the hunt was worthwhile, Charles - I tracked this one for ages: http://tomwilson.shutterchance.com/photoblog/Dragonfly_/

Oh how beautiful. I am fascinated by dragon flies. We used to catch them when I was young and I suppose will always associate them with my youth.
Glad you caught up with it and have shared it with ussmile
