The third in this series of life along the Hooghly River, just north of Kolkata. These children really captivated me as we passed them on the boat. At first I thought they were just playing, but I think they might have been looking for fresh-water animal life. I am not sure, but perhaps someone with more knowledge of the river and area might know.|
As you can tell from this photo and some of my other Hooghly River shots (e.g. this one), the tide difference on the river is quite substantial. The average tidal change during monsoon season is about 16feet.
